Krimulda manor is located on the edge of the Gauja ancient valley, on the right bank of the city of Sigulda (Krimulda). Not far from the manor house are the ruins of Krimulda medieval castle. The building is one of the brightest examples of classicist villa architecture in Latvia. The multi-layered environment of the manor creates the special charm of Krimulda, where the pearls of wooden architecture of the 19th century "Vidzeme Switzerland" alternate with the splendor of the castle built during the late classicism. The year of construction of Krimulda manor house is unknown, but most researchers believe that the current manor house and outbuildings of Krimulda manor were built after 1848, when the first owner of the manor became Paul Herman von Lieven. Around 1893, the Krimulda manor house was rebuilt under the leadership of his son Pauls Līvens. During the reconstruction, the castle at both ends was supplemented with symmetrical long extensions of three window axes and from a small summer house type villa was transformed into a sufficiently large manor house. Similarly to the old part of the castle, basements were built under the new outbuildings, in part of which the castle kitchen was installed at the south-western end of the castle. From 1994 to 1997, Krimulda sanatorium underwent a series of reorganizations, in June 2002 the sanatorium was transformed into SIA "Rehabilitācijas centrs Krimulda" through privatization. Krimulda Manor is still operating as a certified rehabilitation institution. In the architectural form of the buildings, smooth plastered window borders and brick constructions are contrasted with robust boulder walls. For example, the house of the manager of Krimulda manor has a late classicist style exterior door. The building itself is built with boulder walls and smoothly plastered windows.. Also in the Krimulda manor complex there is a monumental laaring complex built in the form of a karate with a 19th century Semicircular fence arches and distinctly representative gates typical of the 1st quarter. Other buildings of the economic complex are also designed in a similar and unified style. In total, the complex has 17 buildings with a total area of 7000m². Currently, Krimulda Manor offers a wide range of recreational and entertainment opportunities for tourists. The manor offers premises for social events, as well as catering and accommodation services. Excursions around the historical center of Krimulda Manor are also offered, as well as possible routes around Krimulda Castle and the surrounding area. Krimulda manor is located 50 km from Riga. The total land area is 53ha. The manor is 2735m², 3 floors, large veranda overlooking the ancient valley. |
